The chapter is divided into two sections. Section 1 describes three models used to conceptualise elements of the service system. In this section, the most detailed consideration is given to the services marketing system presented by Lovelock. 2 Elements of the models will be illustrated with reference to the hairdressing and funeral director case studies which accompany this chapter.
